LISA MCKAY - LAPIDARIST
CURRENTLY EXHIBITING
I love the rawness of the rough stones I carve and how there is such an unknown beauty within. Cutting, carving and shaping my pendants I let the stone speak for itself and even though I have an idea what shape I am making there is often inclusions or soft parts of the rock, so I adapt to work with that. The stones and gems I use are all roughs and all sit differently on the Mohs scale of hardness so there is a lot of variation in my works.
I start by cutting a rough to approx. 15mm. I then grind the stone on 3 different grits, finishing on 3 polishing belts up to 3000grit that reveals a beautiful lustre on each piece. I have fossicked a lot of stones and gems myself from around Australia, gifted from friends or sourced ethically as roughs from the gem and mineral shows.
I love the whole process of fossicking, discovering, cutting, grinding and shaping into beautiful pieces of jewellery and feel each stone has significant meaning for each person and so much connection to the Earth for me.

RIC CHAN - PHOTOGRAPHER

In 1965, I purchased a Pentax camera and a 600mm lens in Wellington, New Zealand, with the goal of shooting surf photography. This led me to explore the east coast of Australia, where I documented surfers and sold stories to U.S. surf magazines, earning up to $5,000 per article.
Eventually, I relocated to Perth after covering the 1969 Australian titles, where I worked as a photojournalist, DJ, and in various media roles. My journey from surf photographer to multimedia professional reflects a life of adventure and creativity across Australia’s landscape.

DAVID WESTGARTH-TAYLOR - JEWELLER
CURRENTLY EXHIBITING
Born in Poole, England, I spent my early years exploring Dorset’s countryside before finding a creative outlet in jewellery making while studying engineering in London. Over a decade, I honed my skills and registered my Hall Mark with the Goldsmith’s Company. After moving to Perth in 1991, I paused my craft to focus on family and work. In retirement, I rekindled my passion under Max Butcher’s guidance at the Fremantle Arts Centre. Inspired by Western Australia’s landscapes, my designs reflect a love for modernist, Scandinavian, and Celtic influences.

MIRELLA PROLONGEAU - PAINTER
“I have always sought new ways to express my emotions, memories, and view of the world through art. Largely self-taught, I’ve refined my skills since moving to Margaret River in 2010. My process begins with charcoal sketches of local landscapes, particularly the rocks and coastline, followed by applying vibrant acrylic inks, using the wet canvas to create fluid shapes. Inspired by the region's natural beauty, my work captures the essence of the Southwest's trees, ocean, rocks, and wildlife.”
